Caregivers can prevent people with cognitive impairment from going out alone by improving the home environment. For example, they can decorate their homes with their favorite home environment, display family photos and play familiar music to enhance their sense of security; use curtains to hide the entrance and exit of the front door to reduce the desire to go out; and activate the bed departure alarm at night to prevent the elderly from leaving the house on their own in the late hours of the night.
